Wall Mounts for the Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch
VESA 300 × 300 mm · 39 lb · 2025 Mini-LED LCD
The Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch (K-55XR50) uses a VESA 300 × 300 mm mounting pattern and weighs about 39 lb without its stand. Any wall mount that supports 300 × 300 mm, is rated above 39 lb and covers 55-inch screens will fit it.

The 300 × 300 mm spacing is common enough that compatibility is rarely the problem here. Any mount whose range includes it will bolt on. This is a middle-of-the-road weight at 39 lb. Plenty of mounts qualify, so the deciding factor is usually how you want the screen to move rather than what it weighs.
That is roughly 18 per cent above the 33 lb median for a 55-inch screen, so a bracket chosen on size alone may well be under-rated for it. This is a Mini-LED LCD panel. The backlight array and heat-spreader layers add real weight over a basic LED set of the same size, which is why it comes in at 39 lb. Check your bracket's rating against that number rather than a generic figure for 55-inch TVs.
Where the bolts land relative to your studs
At only 11.8 inches across, this pattern is narrower than the 16 inches between studs, the TV's mounting holes sit between them. The mount's wall plate has to be wide enough to reach two studs, or you need a single-stud mount rated for the full panel weight.
So check the width of the mount's wall plate, not just its VESA range. Carrying 39 lb off a single stud needs a bracket explicitly rated for it.

How high to mount it
Centre of the screen at seated eye level, about 42 inches from the floor. On a 55-inch panel that is a bottom edge near 29 inches and a top edge near 55 inches (4' 7"), and it wants roughly 6.1 feet of viewing distance. That clears a normal console comfortably, so the wall itself is usually the binding constraint rather than the furniture.
The height calculator works this out for your own seating and eye height, and the fireplace planner covers the above-a-mantel case including heat clearance.
If you need to tilt it
Mounting above eye level, over a fireplace, a dresser or a tall console, means the screen should angle down toward you. These tilt mounts are rated for the XR50's pattern and weight.

Corner installations, open-plan rooms and kitchens usually want an articulating arm. Bear in mind that a full-motion mount applies far more turning force to the wall than a fixed plate does, so at 39 lb these want solid framing rather than anchors.

Most of what goes wrong on a Sony install is not the bracket. It is the screw kit that does not match the panel and the cable that is suddenly two feet short once the screen is on the wall.

The XR50 does not use one pattern across the range. Your 55-inch is 300 × 300 mm, while the 65-inch is 300 × 300, the 75-inch is 300 × 300, the 85-inch is 400 × 400, the 98-inch is 600 × 400. A mount will not simply transfer between sizes here, so check the size you actually own.

Frequently asked questions
What VESA size is the Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch?
The Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch uses a VESA 300 × 300 mm mounting pattern, meaning 300 mm horizontally and 300 mm vertically between the four threaded holes on the back of the panel. The 300 × 300 mm spacing is common enough that compatibility is rarely the problem here. Any mount whose range includes it will bolt on.
How much does the Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch weigh?
The panel is roughly 39 lb once the stand is off, and the stand-off weight is what every bracket rating refers to. That is roughly 18 per cent above the 33 lb median for a 55-inch screen, so a bracket chosen on size alone may well be under-rated for it. This is a middle-of-the-road weight at 39 lb. Plenty of mounts qualify, so the deciding factor is usually how you want the screen to move rather than what it weighs.
How high should I mount a Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch?
Screen centre at seated eye height, near enough 42 inches from the floor for typical sofa seating. On a 55-inch panel that puts the bottom edge around 29 inches from the floor and the top around 55 inches. Where a fireplace or a console forces it higher, mount as low as the obstruction allows and use a tilting bracket to angle the screen back toward you.
What size mount do I need for the Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch?
You need a mount that supports a VESA pattern of at least 300 × 300 mm, is rated above 39 lb, and lists 55 inches inside its supported screen-size range. Two out of three is not enough. The box normally shouts the size range and buries the weight rating, which is the wrong way round for this panel.
Will a 300 × 300 mount reach my studs?
At only 11.8 inches across, this pattern is narrower than the 16 inches between studs, the TV's mounting holes sit between them. The mount's wall plate has to be wide enough to reach two studs, or you need a single-stud mount rated for the full panel weight. Look for a mount whose wall plate is listed as fitting 16, 18 or 24-inch studs. That gives you somewhere to land regardless of what your framing actually does, which is rarely as regular as the plans suggest.
Can the Sony BRAVIA 5 Mini-LED XR50 55-inch be mounted on drywall without studs?
We would not. At 39 lb this panel belongs on framing. Hollow-wall anchors are rated for a static pull in ideal conditions, whereas a wall mount applies constant turning force, and an articulating arm multiplies it. Find the studs, or on masonry use sleeve anchors into the brick body.
