The high-rise stretch of Peachtree Road is a different trade from the rest of Buckhead. Towers here run from the 1980s condo boom that followed the Ritz through the 1990s and into the 2000s luxury builds, and behind the drywall you get either poured concrete or steel stud, sometimes both on the same floor. Neither takes a lag bolt. On concrete we drill with a hammer drill and carbide bit, blow the hole clean and set Tapcons or sleeve anchors rated past 200 lbs. On steel stud we switch to Toggler SnapToggle anchors, four minimum on a fixed mount, spread across two studs, because a screw threaded into 20-gauge steel feels tight and holds nothing. Garden Hills went in from 1925 under P.C. McDuffie and was fully developed by 1941. Its houses are smaller, closer together and framed in wood, with plaster on many of the original walls. That stock, plus the open-plan condos along Peachtree Road, is where full-motion mounts do their best work. A Garden Hills living room is often narrow with seating at an angle to the wall, and a condo great room usually has a kitchen island that wants the same screen. An articulating arm swings about 180 degrees and extends 20 to 26 inches. Audio in Buckhead splits along the same line the framing does.
