Las Vegas walls: stucco tract, niches and block

Most of the valley was built from the 1980s on, with stucco outside and drywall over wood studs inside, so a typical install is lag bolts into studs. Two local features show up in the housing: the family-room TV niche from the 1990s, and concrete block in the older houses near the middle of the valley.

Finding studs behind plaster

Boulder City dates from the 1930s dam construction, and the Henderson and North Las Vegas townsites from the 1940s-1950s. Most of the valley is newer: lake and golf communities in the 1980s-1990s, then master plans through the 2020s.

How much does TV mounting cost in Las Vegas?

By screen size, anywhere in the valley: $129 up to 54 inches, $159 for 55-69 inches, $209 for 70-79 inches, $299 for 80-94 inches and $399 for 95 inches and up (2 technicians). Concrete block adds $99. One way it adds up: an 85-inch TV on our flat bracket with in-wall wire concealment comes to $299 + $69 + $99 = $467.

Can my 1990s TV niche hold a flat screen?

Often. The opening needs about an inch of clearance on each side of the panel and enough depth for the bracket plus the back of the TV. If it fits, the TV mounts inside on a slim tilt bracket lagged into the framing that boxes the niche. If it does not, mention it when you book.

Who installs in Las Vegas?

An installer from the vetted Las Vegas network that Express Mounting dispatches. You book with Express Mounting, pay the rates on this page and get the same 3-year workmanship warranty as in any other metro.

Is a block wall a problem?

No, it just takes different anchors. Concrete block is drilled with a hammer drill and fitted with masonry anchors, and the $99 surcharge applies. In the valley it is mostly found in the 1950s-1960s houses near the center.

Is same-day available in Henderson and Summerlin?

Yes. Henderson, Summerlin, North Las Vegas and Boulder City all fall under the before-noon rule. Count on 2-4 hours between your confirmation and the installer's arrival.
