Central Florida builds in concrete block, with drywall over furring strips on single-story homes and wood studs on the second floor of the two-story houses that dominate Horizon West, Lake Nona and the Four Corners master plans. Winter Park, downtown Sanford, Thornton Park and the Mount Dora historic district keep lath-and-plaster, the 1950s ranches of Pine Hills and Conway have plaster on block, and downtown Orlando's towers are concrete with metal stud partitions.
