San Diego walls: stucco, cottage plaster and coastal towers

Wood-frame stucco covers most of the county, which makes the usual TV wall drywall over studs, with no surcharge. The older beach and village cottages still have lath and plaster, and a few coastal towers and modern houses are concrete.

How much does TV mounting cost in San Diego?

It is a flat rate by screen size: $129 up to 54 inches, $159 for 55-69 inches, $209 for 70-79 inches, $299 for 80-94 inches and $399 for 95 inches and up (2 technicians). Mounting a soundbar is $79. Here is one job priced out: a 55-inch TV and a soundbar on a stucco house's drywall with in-wall wire concealment comes to $159 + $79 + $99 = $337.

Who shows up for a San Diego install?

Is stucco a masonry wall?

Not for an indoor TV. A stucco house here is usually wood-framed with drywall inside, so the bracket goes into the studs and there is no surcharge. The $99 applies when anchors go into concrete, brick or stone.

What about an outdoor TV near the coast?

Salt air reaches the whole coastal strip, from Imperial Beach and Coronado up to Oceanside, and it corrodes ordinary steel. For a patio or balcony TV near the water, pick an exterior-rated stainless bracket and keep the TV under a roof.

Is same-day available in North County and East County?

Yes. Oceanside, Escondido, El Cajon and Alpine work on the same rule as the beach towns. Book before noon and the TV can go up that day, once the installer arrives 2-4 hours after you confirm.
