Field notes from Galleria installs
Look up on Post Oak Boulevard and you already know half the install: concrete columns, metal stud partitions, glass where the walls should be. The 1980s-2020s towers of Uptown, the blocks around the Galleria itself, and the mid-rise apartments along the San Felipe corridor are concrete and metal stud from lobby to roof. Turn west into Tanglewood, Briargrove or Afton Oaks and the whole system changes to 1950s-1960s ranches: brick veneer outside, old pine studs and drywall inside, slab-on-grade underneath, attic above.
Your installer matches hardware to the wall, not the address: heavy-gauge SnapToggles in a four-point pattern for metal stud, Tapcons from a rotary hammer for poured concrete (which carries the masonry surcharge), cobalt pilots and 5/16-inch lag bolts for ranch framing, diamond bits for the stone and porcelain feature walls tower remodels favor.
Two constants: tower logistics, meaning a certificate of insurance sent ahead, a freight elevator booked and drilling inside quiet hours; and humidity, meaning sealed balcony and exterior penetrations, CL3-rated cable through attic heat in the ranches, and hardware that shrugs off a Gulf storm summer.
TV mounting prices in the Galleria area
Galleria-area pricing is by screen size, tower or ranch, and it does not change when the elevator is slow: $129 up to 54”, $159 for 55-69”, $209 for 70-79”, $255 for 80” and up. Cable concealment $95/TV. Brick, stone or concrete adds the published +$99 masonry surcharge, and plaster, drywall and metal stud carry none. Inside a single condo, a bracket on a metal-stud partition is standard rate while the same bracket on a poured shear wall carries the surcharge, as does a Tanglewood brick fireplace.
